Treflip I don't know how to scoop/My Board doesn't flip even if I scoop

What Is the Scoop Motion?

Mechanism / Why It Happens

Scoop refers to compactly twisting your ankle inward. Swinging your back foot hard alone will not flip the board.

People may interpret the scoop motion differently, but at Whythetrick, we define it as a motion of twisting the ankle inward. It involves pushing your entire leg forward in a compact way while spiraling your toes inward. By using the back foot in this way, the board tilts toward the toe side, making it easier to generate rotation. For a detailed explanation of how a treflip rotates, see this Tip (Link). What you need to be careful about is that swinging your leg backward like a horse does not tilt the board toward the toe side, no matter how hard you do it. It may create spin, but it will not generate the force needed for a flip.
