Timing of the Scoop

Mechanism / Why It Happens

The stronger your intention to flip the board, the earlier you apply force with your back foot, which prevents the board from rotating.

Ideally, you would jump and wait until just before your body fully extends before starting the scoop motion. However, the stronger your desire to flip the board, the more you tend to rush the scoop, which can be considered an almost unavoidable reflex. The problem is that the force used to lift your body while canceling out the downward force generated during the crouch is so large that it cancels out the scoop motion. This is why the board does not rotate no matter how much you twist your back foot.
