Types of Treflips
Mechanism / Why It Happens
There are two types of treflips, each with a completely different mechanism for generating the flip.
There are two types of treflips: one method uses the front foot to give the board its flip, and the other uses only the back foot. The former may seem more intuitive, but the latter is also possible. When the trucks, compressed by the twisting motion of the back foot, try to return to their original state, the force generated combines with the upward force lifting the entire board, giving the board its flip. Treflips with the front foot placed on the nose, or treflips performed with the side of the board cut away, can be understood as examples of this method.
