Strength of the Scoop
Mechanism / Why It Happens
Kicking the tail too hard removes the elements necessary for the board to flip.
The scoop motion is certainly essential for a treflip, but that does not mean you should twist your back foot as hard as possible. The stronger your intention to step on the back foot, the more excessive force is applied to the tail, resulting in a stomping motion. As introduced in this Tip (Link), twisting your toes inward tilts the board toward the toe side, making it easier to generate a flip. However, stomping on the tail cancels out that board angle.

What to Do
Simply relaxing your leg to avoid stomping the tail goes against intuition.
Since you are tensing up to flip the board, it is only natural that force goes into your back foot.
