Direction of the Jump

Depending on the direction of your jump, the scoop motion can be canceled out.
As explained in another Tip (Link), if you jump too far forward, you end up kicking the tail strongly toward the heel side, causing the board to fly toward the toe side. However, jumping too vertically can also make it harder for the board to rotate. This is because jumping straight up releases the board angle created by the scoop motion (Link). As a result, it becomes harder for the front foot to catch the board, and the release of compression in the trucks makes it more difficult for the board to flip.

What to Do
Balancing the desired height and the ease of flipping the board is key.
