What kind of shoes are suitable for skateboarding?

Mechanism / Why It Happens

As long as the materials meet a certain quality standard, you can choose based on your preference.

(1) Shape

To avoid catching awkwardly when sliding your foot on the board, shoes with a smooth surface and minimal unnecessary bumps are more suitable.

(2) Material

Choose suede or leather materials. Compared to commonly used sneaker materials like canvas, they are significantly more durable and can withstand intense skateboarding for a longer time.

(3) Sole

There are two main types of soles: cup soles and vulcanized soles, and they differ greatly in hardness. Cup soles are strong against impact and highly durable, making them last longer. On the other hand, vulcanized soles are thinner and softer, so they provide better board feel but wear out more quickly. Even among professionals, opinions differ on which is better, so try different shoes to find what suits you best.
