The Hardness of Bushings

Mechanism / Why It Happens

Bushing hardness comes down to personal preference, but be careful not to overtighten them.

Some skaters tighten their bushings to make it easier to crouch steadily, but overtightening can deform the bushings so they no longer return to their original shape, or even cause them to crack. There's nothing wrong with adjusting the bushing hardness to suit your personal preference, but be careful not to overtighten them. Using washers can also reduce damage to the bushings by distributing the tightening force over a wider area. Try experimenting with different levels of hardness while being careful not to overtighten them.
