I'm afraid of getting injured
Mechanism / Why It Happens
You get injured because you try to stop the force. Letting the force escape can greatly reduce the risk of injury.
Whether you are attempting risky tricks or just starting skateboarding, falling is unavoidable, and one of the most commonly injured areas is the arms. When you fall, fear naturally makes you extend your arms to support your body. At that moment, if your thumb is pointing in the direction of travel, the force applied to your arm has nowhere to escape, which can lead to injury. Therefore, when you fall, it is important to make your body compact and allow the force acting on your body to dissipate. While it may be theoretically true that "rolling more dynamically when you fall reduces injury," it is difficult to execute in practice. If you are concerned, consider using protective gear such as wrist guards.
