Getting Started Skate Park

Choosing the Right Park Surface

Mechanism / Why It Happens

Concrete provides more grip, while composite surfaces slide more easily. Choose the right surface for the trick you want to practice.

Ramp surfaces come in a variety of materials. Composite surfaces such as Skatelite make wheel-sliding tricks like slides and reverts easier. They normally provide plenty of grip, but they can also become extremely slippery with even a small amount of rain. Concrete offers much stronger grip and is less likely to feel overly slippery, although some tricks are more likely to catch. We recommend finding a ramp surface that matches the trick you are practicing.
