BS Pop Shove-it Can't land it while rolling

Why it feels different when moving

Mechanism / Why It Happens

Forces acting on the board while moving change your perception

When you are stationary, pressing down with the toes of your back foot causes the board to tilt in that direction, and your center of mass shifts the same way. From there, simply popping your back foot rotates the board 180 degrees. However, the moment you start moving, the same action suddenly becomes much harder. This is because while rolling straight, the trucks naturally try to return to a neutral position. As a result, the load toward the toe side is reset, and if you push straight down, only your body lifts upward. Meanwhile, as explained in another tip (Link), when the board rotates, its center of mass is driven outward, naturally causing it to move toward the toe side. This leads to a situation where your body goes straight up while only the board shoots forward. To solve this, instead of pushing straight down vertically, you should—as introduced in another tip (Link)—push the tail downward along the line connecting your center of mass and your back foot.
