Your body axis is still leaning like in a Frontside turn. This can also be useful as a transition between tricks.
A Slash Grind is created by leaning your body axis toward the inside of the ramp, just like a Frontside turn, so that the trucks barely scrape the coping at the top of the turn. If you want to do a Frontside 5-0, you need to push against the coping with your back foot while straightening your leg, applying pressure to the coping, and bringing your body much more upright. That said, a Slash Grind is valuable in its own right. When you don't have enough speed to commit to a full grind trick, it works extremely well as a transition between tricks. Learning to do it confidently without fear is never a waste.

What to Do
Push mainly through your heel while straightening your leg. Use your heel as the pivot to bring your body upright and lift your center of mass.
