Ramp FS 50-50 Can't Roll Out / Gets Hung Up

Wheel Position During the Roll-In

Mechanism / Why It Happens

If your body weight moves first, the wheels will follow.

A common misconception is that the wheels hang up on the coping simply because they're still resting on the deck of the ramp. In reality, even if the wheels are still slightly on the deck, as long as your body weight has moved far enough into the ramp, more of your weight shifts onto the front foot, allowing the wheels to roll over the coping. In other words, the sequence is not: (1) the wheels clear the coping, then (2) you lean your weight into the ramp. It's actually the opposite: (1) your weight moves into the ramp first, then (2) the wheels naturally clear the coping.
