Use Your Front Foot to Boost the Board's Lift
Mechanism / Why It Happens
With a strong pop and enough friction under your front foot, you can enhance the board's upward motion. The real question is how much each force contributes.
Try this yourself. Stand on the ground, pop the tail hard, and scoop your front shoe upward along the grip tape. You'll notice the board rises slightly. This can make it seem as though lifting your front foot is what causes the board to rise, but the important point is the proportion of each force. Most of the board's upward motion comes from the tail rebounding off the ground. The front foot's slide simply adds to that force—it doesn't create the majority of it.

What to Do
Lifting your front foot and driving your back foot down are actually two sides of the same movement.
