No matter how much you lift your back foot, the tail will not rise if the board does not have upward force.

To lift the tail, it is important to first give the board upward force with your front foot and then immediately press the nose down. The tail rises because the board goes up while the front foot comes down. On the other hand, if you press the nose down from the beginning with your front foot, you cannot give the board any upward force. If you try to lift only your back foot without any upward force in the board, the tail will not rise, causing your back foot to separate from the tail.
