How Knee Height Affects the Flip
Mechanism / Why It Happens
Lifting your knee too high reduces airtime needed to complete the flip
If you try too hard to flip the board, you may pop too strongly and pull your front foot up excessively. When you flick from this position, your foot angle becomes too downward. This applies downward force to the nose, causing the tail to rise in the opposite direction, which can lead to the board hitting your back foot midair or the nose dropping first. Practice flicking while keeping your knee at the minimum necessary height. (Link)
