You may often hear that you should jump straight up for a kickflip. While that’s true, you won’t land on the board if you just jump vertically without thinking. During a kickflip, your front foot flicks toward the heel side, which naturally drags the board in that direction. By the time you land, the board has shifted slightly toward your heels.
