BS Pop Shove-it My body spins instead of my board

Mechanism & Fix

Mechanism / Why It Happens

The more you try to rotate the board, the more that force makes your body rotate the other way.

You are not trying to rotate your shoulders. You only want to spin the board, yet somehow your body rotates instead. In many cases, that happens because you are kicking your back foot out too hard. As shown by the yellow arrow, when you kick your back foot toward the heel side, the reaction force makes your body rotate in the opposite direction shown by the blue arrow. More precisely, if the timing is correct and your body weight has already lifted upward, your body will stop rotating even if you kick your back foot somewhat toward the heel side. That is exactly why the way you lift your body and strike the tail, explained in the next tab, is so important.

What to Do

Do not pull the tail toward the heel side as you pop. Instead, drive it diagonally downward as part of your whole body extending upward.

Your body rotates because you are trying to pop the tail using only the force of your back foot. Ins
