Don’t consciously drag your front foot against the board. Let the board push your foot back.
By popping the tail, the nose rises in a way that pushes back against your front foot. As a result, simply lifting your front foot straight upward will naturally cause the board to slide. At this moment, if you intentionally try to press your front foot against the board, you only waste the energy the board already has, and no force will be generated to lift the board.
